By Our Reporter

Justin Trudeau, prime minister of Canada has closed the borders against foreign travellers, except Americans, in order to slow down the rate of the coronavirus pandemic.

He disclosed that all Canadians must also stay in their country because his wife had earlier contacted coronavirus. And to prevent the rapid flow he urged all Canadians to stay in their country.

He said that he will deny entry to those who are not Canadian citizens or permanent residents.

Airlines will be ordered not to allow any passengers with flu-like symptoms to board flights, and all inbound international flights will be redirected to four Canadian airports in Montreal, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver where health screenings will be stepped up.

These measures will take effect starting midday on March 18, said Transport Minister Marc Garneau.

“With this, this puts the US from the rest Countries,” he said.

Entry will not also be given to their immediate families who come to visit and are not from Canada.

As of 9 am (1300 GMT), Health Canada has confirmed 324 COVID-19 cases in Canada and one death.
