As Nigeria continues to lose its big brother’s claim in Africa Continent, the German Government has on Friday announced Ghana as the headquarters for the West African Centre for Global Health and Pandemic Prevention.
This was made public through a tweet by the German ambassador to Ghana, Christoph Retzlaff.
“Excellent news: Germany Flag of Germany will support [the] launch of a new “German-West African Center for Global Health and Pandemic Prevention.
“It will be located in Ghana and be part of eight new centres worldwide to fight global challenges, Retzlaff tweeted on Friday President Akufo-Addo in his acceptance statement via tweet lauded Germany’s decision.
Also on the location of Twitter to Ghana as Africa headquarters, he revealed that he had met with the owner of Twitter, Jack Patrick Dorsey and he was confident the move would be the beginning of new things.
“The choice of Ghana as HQ for Twitter’s Africa operations is excellent news. The government and Ghanaians welcome very much this announcement and the confidence reposed in our country.
“As I indicated in our virtual meeting of April 7, 2021, this is the start of a beautiful partnership between Twitter and Ghana, which is critical for the development of Ghana’s hugely important tech sector. These are exciting times to be in, and to do business in Ghana,” Akufo-Addo tweeted.
Recall that on 12 April 2021, the owner of Twitter, Jack Patrick Dorsey announced Ghana as the headquarters of Twitter Africa. Will it be therefore out of place to call Ghana the new giant of Africa?
