Buhari should get more people like Pantami into power – Sheihk Gumi

BY QUADRI SALIU

Islamic cleric Sheihk Ahmad Gumi has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to get more people like the embattled Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Pantami into power, adding that Nigeria needs such people.

The controversial Islamic cleric who warns the Buhari government not to remove or else regret it added that Pantami is not a terrorist sympathiser.

Gumi made the statement whether to remove or not to remove Isa Pantami during his interview with Roots TV.

His calls are coming against the backdrop of calls from Nigerians that the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Pantami should be removed over his past statements Osama Bin Laden, ISIS and other terrorist organisations.

But Pantami who did not deny those statements explained that it was done at the time of ignorance. However, Nigerians want him out of the office or sacked because they doubt his repentance.

But Gumi said the allegations against the embattled Minister were not true and should be discarded. Nevertheless, Pantami has already said those statements credited to him are true and not false.

The Islamic cleric said: “You cannot Islamise the whole world. Jesus Christ came; he could not Christianise the whole world. Nobody can Islamise or Christianise Nigeria.

“All Pantami actions, one hundred per cent, shows he is not a terrorist. Those who are terrorists are after his life. The Minister should continue. His presence there is fighting the terrorist ideology.

“Show me, one person, he has killed. He has not killed anybody. He has not ordered the killing of anybody. Discard the fake news.

”The man is stabilising a government among a section of youths, which we want them to come and join in nation-building. They should not throw him away. Leave him. He is not a terrorist sympathiser.

“And you people are fighting them. No. You should get more people like Pantami and put them in power. It will stabilise. Don’t remove him. You’ll regret.”
