According to her, over four million Nigerians were benefitting directly from job training, financial assistance, and social development.

Farouq said the programmes were some of the Federal Government’s strategy to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty by 2023.

She said, “Mr. President was happy to announce that his administration has lifted five million Nigerians out of extreme poverty in three years and that this was made possible through the efforts of the National Social Investment Programme.

“As you are aware, the government of Nigeria understands the need to focus more attention on youth empowerment by creating an environment conducive for job opportunities and capacity building.”

The minister added, “The present administration from the onset made investments in our people which is one of the key goals of the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan and the national development blueprint from the period of 2017 to 2020.”

Farouq said the implementation of the plan had the NSIP, which helped in increasing school enrollment and the creation of more jobs.

She said, “There is no doubt in my mind therefore, that the disaster management and social development programme will provide the much needed coordination.

“It will also provide the necessary supervision with a view to adequately institutionalise the entire process to enhance the activities of the ministry of humanitarian affairs and ensure its sustainability.”
