Abubakar Malami Will Be Remember For What He Did Wrongly In Buhari’s Administration – Afenifere

MALAMI

The Pan Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, has slammed the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami over his conduct as the first law officer of the country.

This was contained in a statement signed by the group’s National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Jare Ajayi, who noted that Malami would be prominent in the appraisal of President Muhammadu Buhari regime, but not for the good reasons.

He said, “One of the individuals who will feature prominently whenever the regime of President Muhammadu Buhari is being appraised is Mallam Abubakar Malami, SAN. He will feature prominently because of what he did – and makes the government he serves to do – while in that office.

“Unfortunately, his prominence would not be for exemplary positive contributions to the nation and to humanity but for the unprecedented damage he caused the administration he served to commit.”

Ajayi noted that Malami confirmed his shameful conduct when he tried to link Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, to the terrorist group, Boko Haram, by creating a false narrative to establish a connection between the parties during his press conference on Friday, October 22.

“To worsen matters for Malami, he could not mention any specific act of terrorism carried out by Igboho especially in regard to the financial transactions he was so excited to roll out,” Ajayi added.

Ajayi, in the statement, added that the AGF’s conduct should not come as a surprise since during his ministerial screening his clear motive was to clamp down on something that was not as prominent as it is currently.

“The level of agitation for self-determination had not been this much, although Afenifere and others were even by then talking about restructuring.

“Thus, for Malami to, even at the time of his ministerial screening, talk about laws on ‘treason and treasonable felony’ meant that he came to the office with a mission. A mission to quell any attempt by Nigerians to call for good governance.

“For, it is on record that most paranoid regimes in the country always interpreted advocacy for good governance as ‘an attack on government’. To them, criticism of the government is close to a felony,” Ajayi added.
