Police Detain 2 For Alleged Murder Of A Three-Week-Old Baby In Nasarawa

According to the Nasarawa State Police Command, two people have been detained for the suspected murder of a three-week-old kid.
On October 11, 2022, the incident took place at Ungwan Maina, Lafia Local Government Area, Nasarawa State.
The arrest of the suspects came after a vigorous manhunt while the suspects were on the run after perpetrating the crime, according to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Nasarawa State Command, DSP Rahman Nansel and received by Daily Trust on Sunday.
He claims that the primary suspect, 40-year-old Abdulkadir Ahmed, ordered his friend, Hassan Sabo, who is also of that age, to lure his estranged wife and the mother of his three-week-old child to his business across from the Correctional Facility in Lafia under the guise of trying to make amends with her.
According to the PPRO, when the mother of the child came at the store, Abdulkadir Ahmed, the major suspect, brought the child inside while Hassan Sabo talked to her outside. Suddenly, the youngster screamed and stopped talking.
According to him, Ahmed left the store right away, and the baby’s mother thought Ahmed had fallen asleep while she was looking for out what had caused her child to scream.
The baby’s mother entered the store and found her child’s lifeless body after becoming dissatisfied with the chief suspect’s statement.
The PPRO confirmed that after carrying the deceased to Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital in Lafia for a postmortem examination, the perpetrators quickly fled the scene on a motorcycle.
“The State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adesina Soyemi, ordered a thorough inquiry into the unholy and cruel crime,” the statement said, in part.
