Army To Investigate Kaduna Hotel Attack On People

According to the Nigerian Army, it has commissioned an investigation into a viral video showing one of its members abusing a guest at a hotel in Kaduna state.

In the video, some people molested citizens while wearing military camouflage.

However, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, said in a statement on Sunday that the perpetrators will face punishment in accordance with the Armed Forces Acts if proven guilty.

“A provocative and unacceptable video footage trending on social media has been brought to the attention of the Nigerian Army,” the statement said in part. The deplorable occurrence, which is alleged to have occurred at the 2Season Hotel and Resorts in Kaduna, is a deviation from the professionalism, bravery, selflessness, and service to mankind ideals and ethics that the Army stands for.

The Nigerian Army has zero tolerance for any action that is detrimental to the rights and well-being of the populace. The Nigerian Army is a disciplined and regimented force dedicated to upholding the supremacy of the constitution, defending the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and assisting civil authorities.

As a result, the Nigerian Army’s leadership has ordered an immediate inquiry into the audio-visual evidence to determine its truth and find the offenders.

If it is determined that the individuals wearing military camouflage who committed the heinous acts were Nigerian Army personnel, the investigation’s findings and consequences against them will be handled in accordance with the current Armed Forces Acts.

He asked all law-abiding individuals to go about their lawful business without fear of harassment or intimidation from anyone and to report any questionable behavior by soldiers to the Nigerian Army Human Rights Desks at the Headquarters of the Nigerian Army or the Divisions Headquarters.
