BY LEVI JOHNSON

Revered popular Nigerian cleric, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye has established a political arm within the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) that will oversee the affairs of members who are interested to run for political office in Nigeria.

The memo addressed all regions, provinces, zones, and other levels of the church, states: “We write to
formally notify you that the mission the authority has created the Office of Directorate of Politics and Governance in the RCCG.”

The circular explained that the purpose of the political arm of the church is to assist its members who are interested in running for political offices in the country.

It also tasked the leadership of the various provinces to with immediate effect appoint a Provincial Officer for each zone, area and parish of RCCG who will be in charge.

According to the circular, the instructions should be carried out at all levels of the church.

“You are kindly requested to appoint with îmmediate effect a Provincial Officer for your province and also ensure that the same is done at all levels of the church – zone, area and parish,” it said.

It pointed out also that the essence of the establishment of the directorate is to help coordinate the engagement of RCCG members who are willing to be involved in politics and support them.

”In accordance with the mission, the office will be overseen by Timothy Olaniyan, a pastor in the Charge of Province (PICP) for Lagos Province 12.”

Specifically, the church requested that its regions and provinces send the names and contact information of their nominees for the political office to the Office of the Assistant General Overseer (Admin/Personnel) of the mission.

Part of the circular reads, ” We write to formally notify you that the mission the authority has created the Office of Directorate of Politics and Government for the RCCG. Further to this, Pastor Timothy Olaniyan (PICP Lagos Province 12) will oversee it.”

Assistant General Overseer (Admin/Personnel), Pastor J. F. Odesola, the church addressed the memo, which had the reference number RCCG/AGO/ADM/AA. MEMO/20/01/2022, and was dated
February 28.
