How LASU Bursar Died Queuing For Naira Withdrawal In Bank

Mr Ademola Adesola, a staff member at Lagos State University (LASU) Ojo, collapsed and died while queuing in a bank within the school to withdraw N5,000 new notes.

Mr Jeariogbe Olaniyi, Head of the University’s Publicity and Public Relations Unit, confirmed the incident to the Nigerian Tribune on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, saying the Grade Level 13 officer drove himself to school in the morning.

According to Mr Olaniyi, the deceased left the office around 11.30 a.m. to go to the bank to withdraw money from his account.

He slumped while waiting and died as a result of long waiting for withdrawal.

He stated that the deceased had only been in line for about 30 minutes when he collapsed and could not be revived.

Olaniyi stated that he was rushed to the university clinic for treatment, but that all attempts to resuscitate him were futile.

While Mr. Adesola’s death is tragic, he stated that the university has more than one deputy bursar and that the deceased was not one of them.

He stated that Mr Adesola began his career at the university as a typist in 1986 and rose to the position of Chief Executive Officer (Account) on Grade Level 13.
