Africa Continent Records 10,267 COVID-19 With 492 Deaths

Africa Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, on Tuesday, said Africa continent of fifty-two countries has recorded 10,267 cases of coronavirus

It said the continent has recorded 989 recoveries and 492 deaths from the coronavirus.

The ACDCP added that more than 1,000 new confirmed COVID-19 cases have been reported across the continent since Sunday.

The confirmed cases increased from 9,178 on Monday to 10,075 on Tuesday morning and 10,267 by Tuesday evening.

In the breakdown, the worst-hit countries are South Africa with at least 1,686 cases, Algeria with 1,423 cases and Egypt with 1,322 cases.

Countries with the lowest cases are South Sudan with one case and Burundi which has three cases

The agency had also developed its third incident action plan that covers the period from March 16 to April 15.

Meanwhile, Nigeria has recorded 238 coronavirus cases of which 35 persons have recovered and five deaths confirmed.

Of the 238 cases, Lagos and Abuja have the highest numbers with 120 and 48 respectively
