APC Defends Tinubu Administration’s Policies Amid PDP Criticism

By DAYO ADESULU

  • Ruling Party Emphasizes Commitment to Socio-Economic Upliftment and Democratic Values

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has responded to criticisms from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), asserting that the policies of the Tinubu-led administration are not anti-people. The ruling party emphasized its commitment to enhancing the socio-economic well-being of Nigerians in the near future.

  • PDP Chairman’s Concerns Over Socio-Economic Conditions

On Thursday, PDP Chairman Senator Adolphus Wabara expressed deep concerns regarding the country’s declining socio-economic situation during a press briefing at the PDP national secretariat in Abuja. Wabara attributed these challenges to the policies implemented by the APC-led government.

  • APC’s Response to Allegations

In reaction to Wabara’s statements, APC Director of Publicity Bala Ibrahim firmly rejected the allegations, stating that the ruling party has no intention of undermining democracy. “The APC is not intending to foist anything on the country that will injure democracy,” Ibrahim asserted.

  • Commitment to Progressive Change

Ibrahim reiterated that the APC is a progressive party dedicated to implementing changes that deliver the dividends of democracy to the people. He noted, “Democracy is only vibrant when there is opposition, but let the opposition be constructive, not destructive.”

He also pointed out that the country suffered significant setbacks under PDP leadership, claiming that Nigerians are beginning to recognize the importance of change.

  • Call for Support from the Opposition

The APC urged the opposition to abandon thoughts of policy reversal and instead support the current government in its efforts to improve the nation’s socio-economic landscape.

  • Rejection of Election Rigging Claims

Additionally, the APC dismissed accusations from the opposition regarding alleged rigging in the September 21 governorship election in Edo State. The ruling party stated that such claims are unfounded and part of a broader narrative to suggest a move towards a one-party system and totalitarian rule in the country.

This ongoing exchange highlights the political tensions in Nigeria as both ruling and opposition parties navigate the complexities of governance and public perception.
