BREAKING: CBN Governor Reveals Identity of Man Behind Fall In Naira, Declares Wanted

Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr Godwin Emefiele, has Friday declared owner of AbokiFX, Mr Oniwinde Adedotun wanted in what he described as an illegal FX dealer.
Emefiele stated this while responding to questions at the end of the 280th Monetary policy meeting of the apex bank in Abuja on Friday.

Oniwinde Adedotun is believed to own AbokiFX, which is a website that publishes the parallel market exchange daily rate of the naira against other currencies. Emefiele said, according to the CBN Act, section 2, only the apex bank can determine the value of the naira.

.The CBN governor in his statement pointed out the Adedotun was responsible for the present predicament bedevilling the Nigerian economy, adding that he will be prosecuted.

Emefiele said: ”Mr Oniwinde started the AbokiFX operation in 2015 and has since milked the economy by manipulating the exchange rate.

“Oniwinde lives in London while consorting criminal activities on our economy. Our preliminary findings show that the company continues to file the same cash account in the United Kingdom whereas he maintained about 25 accounts with 8 banks in Nigeria, milking the system and collecting cash through Automatic Teller machines in London.

“He then sells tens of millions in FX to company’s in Nigeria; we will go after them all.

 “We found him as a Nigerian who lives in England and conducts this nefarious and criminal activity on our economy.

“It is economic sabotage and we’ll pursue him wherever he is. We will report him to international security agencies.

“We’ll track him, Mr Oniwinde, we’ll find you, because we cannot allow you to continue to conduct an illegal activity that kills our economy.”
