BREAKING: Soldiers Counters #EndSARS Protesters Meeting Point In Abuja

BY SEYIFUNMI LUMEKO

In the quest to floor the planned #EndSARS protest of Monday 20 October, the soldiers and Policemen were stationed at the Aya roundabout, Abuja and Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Abuja, respectively.

While the soldiers blocked the popular Aya roundabout, the police were being stationed in front of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) headquarters with Armoured Personnel Carrier and water cannons.

This is just as the #EndSARS protesters have blocked the Kuje road leading to the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua expressway.

The protesters also blocked the Airport road, preventing motorists from the right of way. Consequently, several people have been prevented from going to their place work as commercial vehicles going to the city centre could not go through.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Army had denied reports that it has sent the ‘Operation Crocodile Smile’ troop out Monday to quell the protesters of #EndSARS across the country.

It said: ”The ‘Operation Crocodile Smile’ which is kicking off across the country this week is not targeted at the #EndSARS protests.

“For the records, Exercise Crocodile Smile is a yearly exercise in the Nigerian Army calendar/forecast of events which traditionally holds from October to December of each year,” the statement read in part.”
