Caleb Varsity Matriculates 2,140, Highest Ever In Institution’s History

Caleb University, Imota, Lagos State has recorded its ever highest number of intakes to the institution’s first-degree programme for the 2021/2022 Academic session.

Its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Nosa Owens-Ibie said Caleb University matriculated 2,140 students into the various degree programmes for the academic year.
According to him, the number of newly admitted students is the highest recorded in the history of instruction admissions. “In total, Caleb University has a school population of 4,861,” he said.
Speaking during the matriculation ceremony held Tuesday at the institution’s Multipurpose Hall, Imota, Lagos, Owens-Ibie said the school has made available adequate preparations to accommodate all the admitted students.
”A new hall for boys (Elisha Hall) has been completed and is now occupied mostly by 100 level students, and partly 200 level students. ”Also, there is the construction of a new female hostel commenced in August 2021 and is nearing completion. ”Besides, two new male hostels are under construction to increase accommodation.”

He said, besides the adequate infrastructure put in place for the students’ conducive learning, 22 new students will be privileged for scholarship opportunities.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, the motive for giving out the scholarship is to both encourage learning and to also promote the teaching profession.
Owens-Ibie explained that the Dr Akintoye Akindele scholarship was designed to inculcate the habits of giving back to society by going back to the primary to teach. “That’s is the condition attached to the scholarships,” the Vice-Chancellor noted.

Dr Akintoye Akindele is the Executive Chairman of Atlantic International Refinery and Petrochemical Limited. Recall that Akindele had last week during the institution’s convocation awarded five million naira each to the two best graduating students for their impressive performance as the best overall graduating students in the 2020/2021 academic session. The recipients of the award were Miss Ejehi Iredia of the Computer Science department with Cumulative Grade Point Aggregate (CGPA) 4.92. While Mr Humphrey Ifezue had 4.84 CGPA.
Speaking further on the need for students to be first among first and best among the best, Professor Nosa Owens-Ibie pointed out that with all the academic motivation made available at Caleb University, there’s no excuse for any student not to excel.
He said: “You should be hungry to be the best and first among the first. You should not take anything for granted in the course of your studies.”
