Seven Passengers Burnt To Death Near Third Mainland Bridge In Lagos

The commercial bus caught fire, killing seven people on board while injuring many more on a dark Sunday in Lagos.

Near the Third Mainland Bridge, at the well-known Iyana Oworo, the tragedy took place.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) reports that upon arrival at the location, it was found that a commercial bus carrying 14 people was on fire.

The commercial bus has the Mazda license plate KJA 699 GY.

Twelve passengers were said to be trapped inside the burning vehicle as a result of the driver’s speeding and carelessness, it was learned.

Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, said that while the driver managed to escape with some burns, three female adults were rescued and taken to Gbagada General Hospital, while a male adult was treated on the spot by LASAMBUS.

However, the commercial bus’s seven passengers—four women, two men, and one boy—were all burned beyond recognition.

The LASEMA Boss added, “Arrangements have been made by LASTMA officials at the spot for removal of the charred car from the road,” saying that all the remains had been bagged by the Agency’s LRT Paramedics and LASAMBUS official and given to the proper authorities.
