PDP Crisis: Even though I have many flaws, I don’t steal- Ayu

Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said he was chosen to lead the party again, not to plunder or improperly manage its funds.
Speaking in the face of accusations of improper behavior from numerous party stakeholders, Ayu informed the Forum of Elected Ex-Officio Members who paid him a solidarity visit at the PDP National Headquarters on Friday that while he had many flaws as a person, “theft was not one of them.”
Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, added that he had given the Finance Department instructions to keep an update on the party’s income and expenditure account for presentation to the Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) at the current NWC’s first anniversary in December. He claimed that the current NWC is guided by the principles of transparency and accountability.

The PDP was not established to be in opposition, the chairman declared. To gain access to power and advance the nation, we created the party. Bringing the party back into power is my historic duty. I won’t remain Chairman indefinitely. My current focus is on bringing the Party back into power. I wasn’t there to steal. My record of public service is there.
“I have served as the National Assembly’s leader. I’ve served as a minister several times. I have many flaws as a person, but stealing is not one of them. “Let’s stay focused on the big picture. The rest is just a side note. We were elected because the party was in trouble. And we don’t want to keep experiencing one crisis after another. It’s detrimental to the celebration. We cannot constantly be in a state of crisis, especially when the crisis is manufactured.
