Fire Guts LASU Senate Building

On Friday, a significant fire broke out on the Lagos State University (LASU) campus in Ojo, Lagos.
No fewer than seven offices were impacted by the fire, including the Risk Insurance & Investment, Directorate of Internal Audit, and Bursar’s office.
Other departments include the Deputy Director Office, Payroll & Pension Unit, Budget & Budgetary Control, and Bursar Mini Registry & Reception.
The Directorate of Internal Audit (Property management unit) office, which is located on the fourth floor of the building, was the location of the fire outbreak, according to a preliminary report from the state emergency management agency (LASEMA).
The immediate reason, according to an investigation by the Agency’s reaction team, was a power spike that came from the specified office.
Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, stated that although no lives were lost, the Directorate office was severely damaged by the fire.
Some of the ceiling claddings have been affected by the fire damage. The rescuers from the Lagos Fire Service and Agency quickly extinguished the fire.
The goal of the ongoing post-disaster risk assessment is to detect any prospective dangers and secondary incidents.
The post-catastrophe risk assessment found that “there is no threat of any probable ignition to any of the offices,” according to the LASEMA boss.
He continued, “The staff members were made aware of the necessity for safety and preventative actions to avoid such incident.”
