Greenwood House School Nigeria Earns Top Marks at Annual DELF Exams

BY LEVI JOHNSON

Greenwood House School has announced its success at the 2021 Diplôme d’Etudes en Langue Française (DELF) Exams. This was the school’s first attempt at the intensive French examination written by various primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions across the country. A student at Greenwood House School, Semilore Oluboyo, who is the Deputy Head Girl, achieved the best result in her category in Lagos, scoring 98.5% in the examination.

The DELF Examinations are the French National Exams held by the French Ministry of Education to examine the French-language skills of non-French candidates. The DELF and DALF diplomas are required for entry into Higher Education in France (B2 level) and application for French citizenship. At each level, 4 skills are evaluated: listening, speaking, reading and writing. For DELF PRIM (primary), Semilore Oluboyo far surpassed the pass mark of 50/100, attaining a score in the 98th percentile.

The exams are held annually at the Alliance Francaise de Lagos Office in Ikoyi, Lagos, which is recognized by the French Ministry of Education and valid for life worldwide to assess and certify French language examinations.

Speaking on the success at the DELF exams, School Administrator, Dr Ekua Abudu stated, “Greenwood House School is overjoyed that the students excelled at the 2021 Diplôme d’Etudes en Langue Française Exams. While this was our first attempt as a school, we were prepared and confident that our pupils will excel in flying colours. We are proud of Semilore Oluboyo, our Deputy Head Girl, who scored 98.5% in the exams, emerging with the best result for her category in Lagos State. At Greenwood, we are determined to continue to train and educate the best students in a conducive environment that encourages them to achieve their potential.”
