Gunmen have attacked two communities in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State killing three persons including two housewives.
The attacks on the two communities of Rago in Karewa ward and Zoron Giwa in Sabon Birni ward Thecheernews gathered occurred some days ago but due to the bad mobile network reception, the news was unable to get out until Saturday.
The bandits according to a source in the community opened fire on the innocent women at a village called Rago, which is a few minutes after Kerawa town in Igabi LGA.
The source who is a resident of the area who did not want to be mentioned said, “the incident happened on Tuesday but due to lack of telecommunication network in the village they couldn’t inform the authorities concerned.
“The two housewives were from our village Kerawa but they went to a nearby village to sympathize with their bereaved relatives when the bandits killed them at a village called Rago, the commercial motorcycle rider was however able to escape from the attack.”
According to him, the 24-hour curfew imposed in Kaduna to stop the spread of coronavirus is not being observed in villages, as people go about their normal businesses.
He then decried that villages were being attacked almost on a daily basis, but the people were no longer keen on reporting the attacks to the police since according to him, “nothing has been done from reported cases in the past.”
“Even if we report the attacks to the relevant security agencies, nothing is done to protect the people, so nobody is keen on reporting the attacks to the police because we believe in Nigeria, it is God that is protecting us and we can only pray to God to continue to protect us,” he said.
He pleaded with the state government to construct the road behind Jaji Military barrack to Kerawa village, saying, “The road is not more than 20 kilometers which will provide easy access to military to the town to prevent further attack from the bandits.”
Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Mohammed Jalige said he has not received any report on the attack.

“I tried to reach the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in the area, but his phone is not reachable.
I will send him a text message and wait for his reply,” he said.
Thecheernews recalled that last month, bandits killed 51 villagers in the same Kerawa wards as well as destroyed houses and foodstuffs.
