I ordered TASCE Lecturers’ Arrest To Forestal Mayhem – Ogun Governor

Dapo Abiodun
The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has disclosed that he ordered the arrest and detention of the staff of Tai Solarin College of Education (TASCE) Omu-Ijebu, Ogun state to forestall law and order in the campus.
The Governor alleged that the staff were arrested because they disrupted the matriculation ceremony of the institution under the guises of protesting non-payment of their salaries and arrears.
Abiodun made this known at a thanksgiving, Praise/Worship programme organised on Tuesday, September 17, 2019, in Abeokuta, Ogun State to celebrate his victory at the tribunal.
Recalled, the TASCE staff have since the past administration of erstwhile Governor Amosun, been protesting non-payment of their over 56 months salaries, deductions among others, but government allegedly turned deaf hears to their clamour and agitation.
According to the Governor, “when I received information that the TASCE staff invaded and caused commotion at the matriculation venue, I promptly ordered their arrest, telling them this government will not tolerate any act illegality and unlawful distortion of people”.
The Governor also stressed that before the information reached him, the matriculating students had taken laws into their hands by beating some of the staff to the pulp and stupor before the arrival of security personnel.
He revealed that there was also a plot by the staff to kidnap their Provost, whom they claim was not capable and qualified to serve as their Provost.
The staff under the umbrella of TASCE Staff Association (TSA) had on Monday, September 16, 2019, held a Press conference at the NUJ Secretariat, Iwe-Iroyin, Abeokuta, alleging that Governor Dapo Abiodun accused them of kidnapping, stealing and robbery, adding that he trampled on their fundamental human rights by subsequently ordering their arrest.
They mentioned a member of Dapo Abiodun’s group, tagged as “errand boy” Mr Lamide Lawal, alleging that he invited their Representative, Mr. Aborisade Daniel to the Governor’s office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, a visit that led to his (Aborisade’s) arrest at the Governor’s office.
But the Governor, during the well-attended ceremony, disclosed that the staff had been causing serious unrest, commotion and showing unpatriotic elements, leading to distortion of learning by the students.
The Thanksgiving and Praise ceremony witnessed eminent personalities in the State. They include the Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon. Kunle Oluomo, former Speakers, Rt. Hon. Suraj Adekunbi and Rt. Hon. Titi Oseni,
Others are the former Deputy Governors, Gbenga Kaka, Segun Adesegun, Royal fathers, the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Aremu Gbadebo, Olu of Ilaro and Paramount of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, among a host of others
