IPOB Criticizes Uzodimma’s Invite To Oxford Award Ceremony

The Indigenous People of Biafra, on Tuesday, lambasted one of the organisers of the 2022 James Currey Literary award at the Oxford University, London, Professor Onyeka Nwelue, for extending an invitation to Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma, for the event.

This was as the group observed that Nwelue should not claim ignorance over the alleged injustices meted towards the people of Imo State, saying that inviting Uzodimma for an event billed to be graced by the likes of Professor Wole Soyinka and the late Chinua Achebe, was demeaning of the yearly ceremony.

The group’s Director of Media and Publicity, Emma Powerful, made this known in a statement on Tuesday.

The statement noted that Uzodimma’s invitation “is not only shameful but a spite on the grave of the foremost Biafra heroic writer Professor Chinua Achebe who was an associate of Professor James Currey in whose honour the event is being held.”

Warning the professor, IPOB said, “Acclaimed Prof. Nwelue should be guided so that IPOB will not cook food for him that he can’t finish. If he still cherishes his Igbo ancestry, he should listen to these words of advice and reason.”
