The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has distributed free fertilizers to Farmers in various communities, in an effort to boost food production in Kogi state.
Presenting the fertilizers to the farmers on behalf of the governor at the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Lokoja on Sunday , the Commissioner in charge of the ministry , Engr. Abubakar Ohere said the gesture was to assist farmers in the state in boosting their activities.
Ohere also noted that the distribution of free fertilizers to farmers across the state is the first of its kind in the state, adding that the governor would continue to provide more farming inputs to farmers in the state.
The Commissioner of Agriculture who was represented by his permanent secretary, Emmanuel Deyi said no government in the state was committed to boosting agricultural activities than that of Governor Bello.
He however charged the farmers in the state to make good use of the fertilizers to boost their farming activities.
Leader of the GYB campaign group, Godwin Amade said the provision of free fertilizers to farmers is a good omen to kogi farmers, appealing to the farmers to vote enmasse for Governor Bello’s re-election.
