Lagos Fire Update: 4 Feared Dead, Scores Injure

No fewer than four persons have feared dead during a gas station exploded in Baruwa area of Ipaja in Lagos State. This is just as many of the residents living in that area sustained various degrees of injury from the gas explosion which stated around past 6 am Thursday.

The explosion, according to Director-General of the Lagos State Emergency Agency (LASEMA), Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, occurred around 6 am. He said emergency responders have been mobilised to the explosion site.

However, an early morning explosion has rocked Best Roof Cooking Gas in the Baruwa community of the Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State.

Besides, the explosion also affected houses, a primary school and other properties in the area.

LASEMA in a statement, said, “On arrival at the scene of the incident, it was observed that there was a gas explosion at the aforementioned location.

“Further investigation at the scene revealed that the gas station belonging to Best Roof Cooking Gas exploded by burning buildings around. The cause of the explosion could not be ascertained at the moment.

“Unfortunately, four mortalities were recorded and several others injured.

“A combined effort of the Agency’s Tiger team, Dolphin team, LRU Fire, LASG Fire Service, NPF, NUPENG, and LNSC are on ground to curtail the spread of the fire to other buildings.”
