Lagos Judicial Panel On Human Rights Abuses By SARS Begins

In response to the demands of the EndSARS protesters,  Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State on Monday swore in a Judicial Panel of Inquiry and Restitution to look into cases of human rights abuses by Special Anti-Robbery Squad  SARS.

According to Sanwo-Olu, Justice Doris Okuwobi of the Lagos State High Court who was sworn in  Monday at the Lagos House, Marina will serve as head of the panel.

Others drafted to the panel include human rights lawyers,  Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa (SAN) and Segun Awosanya.

Among others, the panel has the mandate to investigate cases of rights violations by SARS officers and ensure the making of restitution to the victims.

For the first time, the panel will meet today at 10 am Monday at the Head Office of the Lagos State Waterways Authority at Falomo Roundabout, in Ikoyi. Other days, they are expected to meet at 4 pm.
