The Nigerian Army has on Friday, forced Boko Haram fighters out of the Southern part of Borno State.

It was gathered that the insurgents stormed Damboa town around 6:35am and opened fire thereby creating tension among residents but the Nigerian troops engaged them in a heavy shootout, forcing them to retreat.

Daily Trust security source said that the attackers could not stay up to 30 minutes after troops engaged them.

“I can confirm to you that Boko Haram insurgents made an attempt this morning but it was not successful, the troops on the ground in Damboa town thwarted it immediately,” the source said.
