Police Swung Into Action, Kills Bandit

Nigeria Police Force, after the #ENDSARS silence, has swung into action, killed a bandit attacking the people of Babugi village in Mashegu Local Government Area of Niger State.

Niger State Commissioner of Police, Adamu Usman, said one of the bandits was killed during a gunfight, adding that the victim who was abducted on November 27, 2020 hale from Babugi village in Meshegu.

It was gathered that the bandits took the victim to a nearby bush where a team of policemen rescued him after a gunfight with the hoodlums.

He said the police killed one of the bandits and rescued the victim unhurt.

According to him, the command had declared war against bandits in the state, adding that one AK-49 rifle with 50 rounds of live ammunition was recovered from them.

The Commissioner also said that the corpse of the bandit was deposited at Mashegu General Hospital morgue.

He also admonished the 1,901 officers newly-promoted in the command to wake up to their responsibility, noting that anyone found wanting would be dealt with.

Usman, however, charged them to be professional and diligent while discharging their duties.

“Your promotion brings extra responsibility and have increased expectations of both the public and the command, do your best to protect lives and property of the state,” he said.

He said, ” The promotion of the men comprises, 1,118 Sergeants promoted to the next rank of inspectors,521 corporals promoted to the next rank of Sergents and 262 constables promoted to the rank of corporals.

CP appealed to the residents to assist the police with intelligence information that would lead to the arrest and prosecution of the criminal elements in the state.
