Buhari Mourns Mbang, Methodist Church Prelate.

President Muhammadu Buhari expressed his condolences to all Methodists in Nigeria and abroad on the loss of Dr. Sunday Mbang, the Prelate Emeritus of the Methodist Church of Nigeria.

This information can be found in a statement made on Wednesday in Abuja by the president’s spokesperson, Mr. Femi Adesina.

The Mbang family, the government, and the people of Akwa Ibom, as well as the entire body of Christ in Nigeria and around the world, also received a profound sympathy message from Buhari.

He stated that Mbang, who passed away, “was indeed a spiritual colossus beyond the shores of his fatherland.”

The president praised the late leader for his long tenure in the church, his pioneering roles as the first Black President of the World Methodist Council, the first Methodist President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, and other notable roles.

In his nearly six decades of service to God and humanity, Mbang demonstrated “exemplary courage, forthrightness, wisdom, intellectualism, and selflessness,” according to the author.

President Muhammadu Buhari said that Mbang, who retired as prelate in 2006, “remained an invaluable voice of reason and source of encouragement to many within and outside of government, especially in his home state, Akwa Ibom,” up until his transition at age 86.

Buhari urged everyone who was mourning the distinguished statesman and religious icon to find comfort in the understanding that he lead a life that should be an example for everyone.
