The Navy Issues A Riot Warning To Oil Thieves, Vandals

The Nigerian Navy reaffirmed its position on Monday about the elimination of pipeline vandals and thieves from the Niger Delta in particular as well as the entire nation.

Rear Adm. Olusola Oluwagbire, who is the Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command, provided the assurance while conducting his initial facility inspection of the Nigerian Navy Ship Pathfinder in Port Harcourt.

Rear Adm. Olusola Oluwagbire, said that the navy had increased its efforts to combat illegal oil bunkering through a number of activities, including constant monitoring of streams and waterways that took place every day, 24 hours a day.

Our goal is to become the most operational naval command in the world, therefore this is in keeping with that objective.

The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Adm. Awwal Gambo, gave the ENC a mandate, and we are doing everything in our power to see that it is ultimately carried out.

Therefore, he advised criminal elements to stay away from the ENC’s jurisdiction since his team was prepared to fight them, smoke them out, and bring them home.

Rear Adm. Olusola Oluwagbire claimed that the purpose of his operational tour of NNS Pathfinder was to interact with the command’s officers and ratings as well as assess the state of the base’s infrastructure.

“So far, I’m impressed with the investments and work Commodore Suleiman Ibrahim, commander of NNS Pathfinder, is making on the facility.

“The base is currently undergoing numerous projects and facility renovations.

Therefore, he continued, “I have no doubt in my mind that the commander will finish the projects based on the speed and motivation of the work.”

The FOC urged members of the public to provide the command with pertinent information that will help in its efforts to apprehend criminal elements operating under its jurisdiction.

The tour’s highlights included looking at the base’s jetty, barracks, and golf club center that was being renovated, among other projects.
