Road Accident In Kebbi Kills 14 People, 22 Livestock

According to reports, a horrifying tragedy along the Koko-Jega route in Kebbi State claimed the lives of about 14 persons and 22 cows.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi, SP Nafiu Abubakar, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Kebbi State Police Command, acknowledged this.
He stated, “On December 12, 2022, at approximately 0530 hours, there was a deadly motor vehicle collision along Jega/Koko route.
The accident happened when a stationed truck parked by the side of the road in Dada village, Koko/Besse LGA, Kebbi State, was struck by a truck carrying passengers and cows from Illela LGA, Sokoto State, to Lagos State, driven by an unidentified person and registered with the Sokoto State number SRZ 518 XS. 40 travelers as a result sustained different injuries.
“Upon learning of the incident, the Kebbi State Command Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Magaji Kontagora, hurried to the scene, evacuated the victims to the General Hospital Kooko for treatment, where a doctor confirmed fourteen (14) fatalities while the remaining victims are currently responding to care. The catastrophe also caused twenty-two (22) cows to pass away.
“CP Ahmed Magaji Kontagora prayed for the departed’s souls to have an eternal rest and may their close family members have the strength to bear the irreparable loss, Amin,” he added.
In order to prevent repeat occurrences, he cited the CP as having urged the NURTW, NARTO, and other road users to always make sure they install proper safety measures in their vehicles and be aware when driving.
Therefore, he recommended them to obey the speed limit, refrain from irresponsible behavior, and drive more cautiously, especially during the holiday season.
