Sheikh Gumi: What We Discussed With Peter Obi

Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, an Islamic scholar living in Kaduna, revealed yesterday that he spoke with Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party (LP), who paid him a visit at his home.
Before going to the location of the gathering hosted for presidential candidates by the Arewa Consultative Forum, Northern Elders Forum, and other northern organisations, Obi reportedly paid a visit to the Islamic scholar, according to Daily Trust.
Even though it was their first meeting ever, Gumi claimed he asked the LP presidential contender a few questions.
“Even though I was seeing Obi for the first time in person, he (Obi) came as a courtesy call, thus I enjoyed his visit.
I asked him some really important questions, but I told him he didn’t have to respond honestly right away since I knew he was headed to Arewa House, where he would explain it more clearly for the benefit of the greater society.

“I questioned him about his position on restructuring because Nigeria has been undergoing it since 1960 and asked how he could help an underdeveloped country.
I questioned him further about how he could quell unrest in the South East, North Central, South West, and North East. I reminded him once more that there are foreign interests in this nation contributing to the polarization of our politics. So how does he want to approach it?
He concurred with me that there is genuine international interest in this nation, and I then wished him well, the speaker continued.
Sheikh Ahmad Gumi gave all the presidential contenders the advice to base their campaigns on issues.
He forbade them from saying anything that may further polarize the nation.
