LASU Excels At Afrobrazilian Studies’ Conference

The LASUCAS, or Lagos State University Centre for Afro-Brazilian Studies, is currently representing the university proudly at the LASUCAS 2nd International Conference in the far-off Brazilian state of Salvador-Bahia.
Remember that the inaugural LASUCAS International Conference took place at LASU in February 2020 with about 35 attendees from Brazil.
About 100 people from Brazil and other nations attended the second International Conference in its history, which began on November 16, 2022.
Prior to the Conference’s official start, the LASU team and the management of the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) met on November 14, 2022, to further advance institutional cooperation.
The UFBA team included Prof. Penildon Silva Filho, Deputy Vice Chancellor, seven other top university officials, and a translator. Prof. Fábio Velame, who serves as the Agreement’s coordinator in Brazil, was also present.

The DVC welcomed the LASU team and expressed his or her pleasure in having them as a part of the university.
He said that UFBA had 8,000 postgraduate and 48,000 undergraduate students. 108 undergraduate programmes and 125 postgraduate programmes are offered at the university, which began as a white, elitist institution but has since changed to a multiracial one to everyone’s acclaim.
He had high hopes that their students would soon visit LASU for an academic exchange in the fields of alternative medicine, agriculture, and the arts.
