NDLEA Nabs Pregnant Woman, Nursing Mother, and Others Possessing Drugs

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency’s agents detained 28 people, including a pregnant woman, a nursing mother, and a 200-level university student, together with 9,437.6kgs of cannabis and 138,053 tablets of pharmaceutical opioids, among other things (NDLEA).
On Sunday in Abuja, the agency’s spokesman, Femi Babafemi, stated that the seizures and arrests had taken place during interdiction operations in several states, including Yobe, Ondo, Edo, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Imo, Jigawa, Kogi, Adamawa, Kaduna, Kwara, Lagos, and the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja.
Ms. Mercy Nyong, a 30-year-old mass communication student at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), was detained on October 12 at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Ikeja, Lagos, for attempting to export 300 grams of tramadol 225 mg hidden in incense products to Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
According to Babafemi, on Saturday, October 15, in the FCT, agents raided a sizable cannabis warehouse after storming the village of Chukuku, which is around 10 kilometers from Gwagwalada.
Sa’adatu Abdullahi, a 35-year-old nursing mother who managed the store, was detained along with 510 giant bags of the illegal material that together weighed 5,640kg.
While agents in Yobe seized 48 kg of marijuana in Buni Yadi, they also conducted a raid in Potiskum and seized 56 blocks (31 kg) of marijuana from two suspects: Mohammed Mamuda and a married expectant woman named Hauwa Haruna.
At least 410 kg of the same substance, along with a motorcycle, two Dane guns, and two suspects were detained in a raid at Umukpe forest in the Uhunmonde council area of Edo State. The two suspects were identified as Numga Anim, 30, and Friday Ebije, 50. These seizures occurred on Thursday, October 13th, when agents carried out a raid in the Ogbese area of Ondo State.
Additionally in Edo State, at least 50 bags of C/S weighing 623kg were found in Ekpom Village in the Igueben LGA, leading to the arrest of the owner, Lucky Henry, 30, while on October 11th, another suspect, Ndidi Esegine, 52, was taken into custody with 266.8kg of C/S at Ugbodo Forest in the Ovia North East LGA.

NDLEA Unwraps Cannabis, Tramadol In Crayfish Sack
After destroying four cannabis fields in the state’s Owan West LGA two days later, agents descended on Uzebba Forest to arrest two suspects, Ezekiel Raphael and Gideon Bassey, and seize 223.5 kg of processed cannabis.
During a stop-and-search operation on the East/West road in the Ahoada area of Rivers state, 251.4kg of C/S were found in a gold-colored Toyota Sienna bus with the registration number Abuja YAB 70 BR, and a suspect named Segun Ajayi was detained. In addition, 161.4kg of C/S were found in a Toyota Camry saloon with the registration number Abuja RBC 590 BQ.
Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), Chairman/Chief Executive of the anti-narcotics agency, praised the officers and soldiers of the anti-narcotics agency’s commands for their work in reducing the supply and demand of drugs while admonishing them to keep up the good work.
