Speakership: Ooni Calls Abbas, Kalu To Work For Nigeria.

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has urged the APC candidates for Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the upcoming 10th House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas and Benjamin Kalu, to always have Nigeria’s best interests at heart when carrying out their duties as presiding officers.

Oba Ogunwusi urged Abbas and Kalu to “carry everyone along so that they will love you for who you are, not for the fact that when you get to be the Speaker, they will lobby you for positions; but they will love you for the great things you will do for the betterment of our country.”

The monarch reminded the APC candidates of their shifting positions and concomitant obligations, according to a statement issued after the meeting by the Abbas Tajudeen/Benjamin Kalu Campaign Office, emphasizing that the country must come first in their leadership evaluation.

“You have become a servant from your constituency; you want to be a bigger servant to be the Speaker of the House and a much bigger servant to serve our dear nation,” Oba Ogunwusi stated. Always keep in mind that the interest of our dear nation comes first, followed by the interest of your party since what matters is that you carry your people along.”

“May God Almighty be with you,” the king prayed for Abbas and Kalu. God bless you abundantly. May God, the Almighty, honor, guide, and protect you. Also, give women support and encouragement, especially the feminine ones.”
