Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has recommended educators to utilize the power of cutting-edge technology in their classrooms in order to better prepare students for the modern world.
In his speech on Wednesday in honor of World Teachers’ Day at Eagle Square in Abuja, he offered the advice.
The Vice President stressed the importance of teachers in the transformation and growth of a nation while speaking on the theme of this year’s World Teachers’ Day, “The Transformation of Education Begins with Teachers.”
Yemi Osinbajo asserted that instructors should welcome innovation because they also owe it to themselves to stay on the cutting edge of educational breakthroughs, particularly in the use of technology and contemporary teaching techniques.
While highlighting the importance of the knowledge economy for current global development, Prof. Osinbajo said, “Whereas our previous educational practices unintentionally produced students who were good stores of crammed information, the demands of the future demand that we position our young people to think for themselves, to absorb and process the wealth of information available to them, and to tease out useful knowledge.

“Education must adapt to the dynamism, rapid development, and significant social changes. Teachers need to be aware of the abilities needed to fully benefit from a technologically dependent environment. Writing, brainstorming, envisioning, and critical thinking skills are now included in school in addition to listening. It’s not just memorization anymore, he continued.
The vice president, who spent 40 years as a teacher starting in 1981, advised educators to “connect themselves into the global knowledge pool.”
He claimed that education is one of the key factors separating wealthy, functional, and healthy societies from less developed ones.
He declared, “Education and our teachers are extremely crucial to the future of our country. This explains the Federal Government’s commitment to elevating educators, education, and the teaching profession to their proper positions.
Atiku Bagudu, the governor of Kebbi State, Adamu Adamu, the minister of education, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the registrar of the JAMB, Comrade Ayuba Wabba, the president of the Nigerian Teachers’ Union, Comrade Audu Amba, as well as other prominent government officials attended the occasion.
