N6.3bn: Jang Prays to Court to Dismiss EFCC Charges

A former Governor of Plateau State, Jonah Jang, on Thursday asked a Plateau State High Court presided over by Justice Daniel Longji to dismiss a fresh  application  filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission seeking to amend an earlier 13 counts it preferred against in a N6.3bn fraud trial.

When the case came up for continuation in Jos on Thursday the councel to the prosecution (EFCC), Adebisi Adeniyi, drew the attention of the court to the amended charges which was why the case was adjourned to Thursday for the defendants to take their pleas.

But the counsel for Jang, Mr Edward Pwajok (SAN), said he was served with the amended charges by the prosecution on September 30, and he had filed a counter motion seeking to quash some of the paragraphs of the amended charges which he considered offensive and vexatious.

Adeniyi urged the court not to entertain the application of the defence, but Justice Longji said the application must be entertained.

He subsequently adjourned the matter till Friday (today).
