Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Kenneth Ebrimson has affirmed the 1999 constitution, saying the Nigerian people have the to peaceful assembly as enshrined in the constitution.
Ebrimson stated this when he stormed the venue of Amotekun protesters at Panseke, a bustling area of Abeokuta, Ogun State with Police officers and the Department of State Security, DSS.
He, however, explained that he came to the venue of protest with armed police personnel to ensure that the protest was not hijacked by hoodlums.
Ebrimson warned whoever tries to harass or intimidate other law-abiding Nigerians from engaging in their legitimate business in the name of the rally would have the full weight of the law “descending ruthlessly on him.”
The Yorubas had planned to coordinate rally simultaneously on Tuesday in the six Southwest States in support of Western Nigeria Security Network codenamed Amotekun.
