EFCC Arraigns Sani After 27 Days In Its Custody

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commissions, EFCC has arraigned Senator Shehu Sani before a Federal High Court in Abuja over alleged bribery.

He was arraigned on two counts of bribery and advance fee fraud today, Monday, 2020.

This was Sani’s first appearance in court since he had been detained by the commission since December 31, 2019, over the allegation bribery.

During the hearing, Senator Sani’s pleaded not guilty to the charges as his counsel, A. Ibrahim, also demanded his client’s bail.

The presiding judge, Justice E.I Ekwo, stood down the case till 12:00 pm following a protest by Sani’s lawyer that they had not been served with the charges.

Recall that Sani was alleged to have demanded $20,000 from a car dealer, Alhaji Sani Dauda, to avoid EFCC investigation.
