Ogun Begins House to House Refuse Collection

The Ogun State government has commenced house-to-house refuse collection of waste, so as to make the state free from filth and maintain clean, safe and hygiene environments.
Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Abiodun Abudu-Balogun stated this while addressing Waste Managers of the state at the conference room of the Ministry in Abeokuta, the state capital.
He said the present administration met a very filthy Environment, especially in it’s major cities, so the government had to establish the waste management authority to not only clean the state but bring permanent solution to waste management across the state.
Hon Abudu-Balogun said the government had commenced the household refuse intervention programme which collects waste from house-to-house, while five  dump sites have been rehabilitated to make them accessible for waste managers.
He then called on the waste managers to comply with the state government new directives, that only operators with compactor are allowed to load waste, noting that the state owned Mortgage Bank was ready to partner them in acquiring new ones.
