After 22 Confirm Cases of COVID-19, FG Closes All Airports

After 22 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Nigeria, the Federal Government has declared that from Monday, March 23, it will shut down the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos and Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja to contain the coronavirus pandemic.

Capt. Musa Nuhu, the Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority in a statement disclosed it on Saturday.

Meanwhile, three other international airports in Kano, Enugu and Port Harcourt were shut for flight operations on Saturday.

Nuhu explained that the closure will last April 23, noting that only emergency and essential flights would be operated in Lagos and Abuja within the period.

According to him, the closure was important due to the devastating effect of Coronavirus which has increased over the weeks bringing confirmed cases to 22 patients.

Nuhu said that domestic flight operations would continue normally in all airports in the country as soon as practicable.
