No Money Paid Before Release Of 344 Abducted Schoolboys – Gov Masari

Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina state has dismissed insinuation that the abductors of over 300 schoolboys from Government Science Secondary School in Kankara, Katsina State, adding that no money was paid for their release.

On Thursday night, 344 of the students were released besides, the 17 of them that earlier escaped during the attack.

Recall that on December 11, over 300 schoolboys were kidnapped in their school by suspected terrorists.

Masari who spoke on Friday while receiving the freed schoolboys at the government house the said his administration did not offer a penny to the abductors before their release.

According to him, the security agencies and members of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) were instrumental in the release of the schoolboys.

Masari said: “Those involved in the negotiation include my adviser, some top military and police operatives, members of Miyetti Allah; (they) were all involved in the negotiation.

”The schoolboys have suffered physically and psychologically”. He assured them that they would be properly taken care of before they are reunited with their parents.”
