Nigeria Uncovers FCT1,300 Illegal Telecommunication Masts In Capital Territory

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Department of Outdoor Advertisement and Signage (DOAS) has revealed that it has uncovered 1,300 illegal telecommunication masts and towers in Abuja.

The Director of DOAS, Dr Babagana Adam, who made the disclosure Friday at a news conference, said they were erected without regard to the urban and town planning laws of the city.

Dr Adam said, ā€œWhen we came recently, we discovered that we have over 1,300 illegal telecommunications masts and towers within the FCT.Ā Ā

ā€œIn fact, recently, without mentioning the company, we had to bring down 126 illegal towers without documentation for them.Ā Ā

ā€œSo, we have to regularise them, and where they don’t meet with the regulations, we have to decommission the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).ā€
