The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has responded to a surge in public complaints following the release of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results, which were officially published last Friday. In a statement issued by the Board’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB acknowledged the concerns and announced that it is accelerating its annual system review to address the issues.
The annual review, typically conducted months after the examination, is a comprehensive post-mortem of the UTME process, covering three critical stages: registration, examination, and result release. During the examination phase, JAMB ensures that all candidates are allowed to sit for the test. In cases where technical issues arise, the Board reschedules the examination for affected candidates without delay.
Dr. Benjamin expressed particular concern over the unusual volume of complaints emanating from a few states across the Federation. “We are currently scrutinising these complaints in detail to identify and rectify any potential technical issues,” he stated.
JAMB Situation Room in UTME Monitoring Boosts Exam Integrity Nationwide
To bolster this effort, JAMB has enlisted the expertise of several professionals and organizations, including the Computer Professionals Association of Nigeria, Chief External Examiners (heads of tertiary institutions), the Educational Association and Research Network in Africa, measurement experts, and Vice Chancellors from various institutions.
“If it is determined that there were indeed glitches, we will implement appropriate remedial measures promptly, as we do in the case of the examinations themselves,” Dr. Benjamin assured.
The Board’s swift response underscores its commitment to maintaining the integrity of the UTME process and ensuring fairness for all candidates. JAMB has urged the public to remain patient as it works diligently to address the concerns and uphold the credibility of the examination system.
For further updates, candidates and stakeholders are advised to monitor official JAMB communication channels.
