๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฑ Israel Launches Strikes in Gaza After Accusing Hamas of Violating Trump-Brokered Ceasefire

By LEVI JOHNSON

TEL AVIV, Israel โ€” Israel has resumed airstrikes on the Gaza Strip after accusing Hamas of breaching the Donald Trump-brokered ceasefire agreement that brought a temporary halt to the two-year conflict.

The Israeli military said Hamas militants launched โ€œmultiple attacksโ€ beyond the designated โ€˜yellow lineโ€™ buffer zone, including sniper fire and rocket-propelled grenade strikes, calling the incidents a โ€œblatant violation of the ceasefire.โ€

Airstrikes were reported in Rafah, southern Gaza, and Jabalia, in the north of the enclave. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said the strikes targeted โ€œterror operatives responsible for the attacks.โ€

โ€œThese actions represent a clear violation of the terms agreed under the Trump peace deal,โ€ an Israeli military spokesperson said.

There has been no official response yet from Hamas. However, local reports confirmed explosions across several neighborhoods late Thursday night.

The renewed violence follows a U.S. warning earlier in the day that Hamas was planning an โ€œimminent attackโ€ on civilians in Gaza โ€” an action Washington described as a โ€œdirect and grave breach of the ceasefire.โ€

The U.S. State Department said it had alerted Qatar, Turkey, and Egypt, the three countries serving as mediators, about โ€œcredible intelligence reports indicating plans for an imminent violation by Hamas against the people of Gaza.โ€

โ€œSuch an attack would directly undermine the progress achieved through the mediation process,โ€ the statement warned.

Hamas denied the accusation, claiming Israel was โ€œmanufacturing pretexts to justify further aggressionโ€ and accused the IDF of โ€œsupporting rival militiasโ€ inside Gaza.

Under the Trump peace plan, Hamas is barred from holding political or military authority in Gaza. However, the group reportedly recalled 7,000 members of its security forces after Israeli troops withdrew from parts of the enclave last week.

As of Thursday night, explosions continued to echo across Rafah and Gaza City, with local residents reporting renewed displacement. International observers warn that the fragile truce โ€” seen as a cornerstone of Trumpโ€™s Middle East peace framework โ€” may now be on the brink of collapse.

This is a developing story.
