By DAYO ADESULU

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reiterated its commitment to fairness, equity, and excellence in admissions, with the Ekiti State Acting Coordinator, Mr. Ishola Ganiyu, urging students to embrace hard work as the foundation for success.

Mr. Ganiyu spoke during the 15th Matriculation Ceremony of FABOTAS College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ado-Ekiti, held on Thursday, January 15, 2026, highlighting the Board’s ongoing efforts to maintain transparency in Nigeria’s higher education admission processes.

Encouraging Excellence Among Students

Addressing 217 newly admitted students, the Coordinator emphasized that dedication, discipline, and consistent effort are essential for achieving academic excellence.

He urged students to leverage the knowledge gained at the College to contribute meaningfully to national development, particularly in the health sector.

Warning Against Backdoor Admissions

Mr. Ganiyu also used the occasion to caution institutions of higher learning against backdoor admissions, reminding them to strictly adhere to JAMB’s rules and regulations governing the admission process.

He stressed that the 2026 UTME registration, commencing on Monday, January 26, 2026, would be conducted with robust monitoring mechanisms to ensure compliance and fairness.

JAMB’s Role in Streamlined Admissions

The Coordinator highlighted that JAMB’s Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) has revolutionized tertiary admissions, making the process more seamless, transparent, and accessible, particularly for less-privileged candidates.

He noted that the Board continues to implement measures to curb malpractices and enhance confidence in the national admission system.

College Leadership Lauds JAMB

The Provost of FABOTAS College, Dr. Ifeoluwapo Asekun-Olarinmoye, praised JAMB for enabling a smooth admission process that has opened opportunities for deserving students.

She highlighted CAPS as a tool that has democratized access to higher education, ensuring that merit, rather than influence, drives student selection.

Students Take Oath of Allegiance

During the ceremony, all 217 matriculating students took an oath of allegiance administered by the College Registrar, Mr. Thompson Afolabi, pledging commitment to the College’s values and academic excellence.

Strengthening the Education Sector

Mr. Ganiyu concluded by reaffirming JAMB’s dedication to setting high standards for admission procedures in Nigeria, promoting integrity, fairness, and a merit-based system that aligns with global best practices in higher education.
