JAMB Approves Donation of UTME Forms, Warns Against Abuse of Process

JAMB Exam

By DAYO ADESULU

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has clarified that it is not opposed to the donation of Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) application forms to indigent candidates, provided such gestures strictly comply with established guidelines.

The Registrar, Professor Is-haq Oloyede, made this known during an interactive session with media executives over the weekend.

Support for Indigent Candidates Encouraged

Professor Oloyede stated that public-spirited individuals, politicians, non-governmental organisations, religious bodies, and other institutions are free to procure UTME forms for candidates seeking admission in the 2026/2027 academic session.

However, he stressed that any organisation or individual intending to distribute free application documents must first contact designated officials of the Board through the official email channel.

He cautioned that while the initiative is noble, it is susceptible to abuse if not properly regulated.

No Warehousing of Candidates

The Registrar warned that JAMB would deal decisively with any infraction, noting that all arrangements under the waiver must conform to minimum acceptable standards.

He emphasised that beneficiaries of donated forms would not be warehoused at specific centres but posted randomly within their chosen examination towns, in line with existing policies.

The Board reiterated that the donation of UTME forms remains an important intervention to bridge educational gaps and improve access to higher education for less-privileged Nigerians.
