Thereafter, WAEC coordinated the marking of scripts across seven designated centres ā Lagos, Ibadan, Benin, Enugu, Uyo, Jos and Kaduna ā from January 14 to February 3, 2026. A total of 3,361 examiners participated in the coordination and marking exercise.
In terms of enrollment, 69,604 candidates registered for the examination. This figure reflects a 1.8 percent increase compared to the 68,342 candidates who enrolled for the 2024 diet. However, 65,752 candidates eventually sat the examination across 370 centres nationwide.

Special Needs Candidates Fully Accommodated

This move underscores WAECās commitment to inclusivity and equal opportunity in the Nigerian education system.

Providing an update on result processing, WAEC confirmed that 61,943 candidates ā representing 94.21 percent of those who sat the examination ā have had their results fully processed and released.
Meanwhile, 3,809 candidates, representing 5.79 percent, still have one or more subjects being processed due to errors traceable to them.
The Council assured affected candidates that it is working to resolve the issues promptly to enable full release of their results.
Performance Analysis: Credit Passes in Five Subjects
A closer look at performance statistics reveals notable trends.
Out of the 65,752 candidates who sat the examination:
- 33,989 candidates (51.69 percent) obtained credit and above in at least five subjects, with or without English Language and Mathematics.
- 27,727 candidates (42.17 percent) secured credit and above in a minimum of five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
Of those who achieved five credits including English and Mathematics, 13,416 were male (48.39 percent), while 14,311 were female (51.61 percent).
However, WAEC noted a marginal decline in performance when compared to previous years. In 2023 and 2024 Second Series examinations, 44.29 percent and 53.64 percent respectively achieved five credits including English and Mathematics. This represents a decrease of 11.47 percent compared to the immediate past year.
Nonetheless, the Council emphasized that performance comparisons between private candidates and school candidates remain inappropriate, since private candidates fall outside the conventional school system.
