JAMB Delists 23 CBT Centres, Warns Dozens Ahead of 2026 UTME
By DAYO ADESULU
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has taken decisive action against underperforming examination centres, announcing the delisting of 23 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres across Nigeria following the 2026 Mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The Board also issued warnings to several other centres over minor technical shortcomings, while declaring one centre in Lagos permanently barred from participating in any of its future examinations.
JAMB Delists CBT Centres After Mock UTME Review
The move comes after JAMB conducted an internal assessment of centres used during the mock examination, a preparatory exercise designed to test both candidates and infrastructure ahead of the main UTME.
According to the Board, the mock exam plays a dual role. It helps candidates familiarise themselves with the CBT environment, while also serving as a critical quality control mechanism for identifying centres that fail to meet operational and technical standards.
Following this review, JAMB said it found multiple centres that fell below expectations, prompting immediate sanctions.
“The Board remains committed to maintaining the integrity of its examination processes,” the statement noted, stressing that only centres that meet strict technical and operational requirements will be allowed to participate in the main UTME.
Affected States and Centres
The 23 delisted centres are spread across several states, including Abia, Anambra, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Lagos, Ogun, Osun, Oyo, and Plateau.
Notable affected centres include:
- De-Lite CBT Centre, Maitama, Abuja
- Zulqud Consult Ltd CBT Centre, Lugbe, Abuja
- Several centres in Lagos, including Teesas Learning and CBT Centre, Lekki
- Oduduwa University CBT Centre, Ile-Ife, Osun State
- Rabjib Computer Academy, Jos, Plateau State
In addition, JAMB announced that Ha-Shem Academy CBT Centre in Yaba, Lagos, will no longer be used for any of its examinations under any circumstances.
Dozens of Centres Placed on Watchlist
Beyond the delisted facilities, JAMB issued warnings to dozens of CBT centres nationwide. These centres were found to have minor technical issues that did not meet the Board’s full compliance standards.
States affected by the warning list include Adamawa, Kaduna, Kano, Rivers, Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, and the FCT, among others.
While these centres are not immediately disqualified, JAMB made it clear that failure to address the identified issues could lead to stricter sanctions, including full delisting.
Integrity of UTME Remains Top Priority
JAMB emphasised that the integrity, fairness, and smooth conduct of the UTME remain its top priorities. The Board reiterated that it would not compromise standards, especially given the high stakes of the national examination, which determines admission into tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
Education stakeholders have long raised concerns about technical failures, poor infrastructure, and irregularities at some CBT centres. JAMB’s latest action signals a stricter enforcement regime aimed at restoring confidence in the system.
What This Means for Candidates
For candidates preparing for the 2026 UTME, the development underscores the importance of staying informed and ensuring that their examination centres are compliant and approved by JAMB.
Candidates who initially selected any of the delisted centres are expected to be reassigned to alternative venues ahead of the main examination.
JAMB has yet to release detailed guidance on rescheduling logistics, but officials say affected candidates will receive updates in due course.
A System Under Scrutiny
Over the years, JAMB has continued to upgrade its examination processes, moving fully into digital testing and tightening supervision mechanisms. However, the performance of CBT centres remains a critical factor in the success of the exams.
By delisting underperforming centres and warning others, the Board appears determined to eliminate weak links in the system before the main UTME begins.
With the 2026 UTME approaching, all eyes will be on how effectively these measures improve the overall examination experience for candidates nationwide.
