The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet/ISA) have announced a series of coordinated overnight airstrikes targeting what they described as Hamas terrorist infrastructure across several locations in the Gaza Strip.
According to a joint statement released on Friday, the operation focused on dismantling weapons storage facilities, a weapons manufacturing site, and underground infrastructure allegedly used by Hamas to rebuild its military capabilities.
The Israeli military said the targeted facilities contained a significant cache of weapons, including Kalashnikov assault rifles, rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) launchers, mortar shells, explosive devices, and other military equipment.
Weapons Allegedly Intended for Future Attacks
The IDF stated that the seized weapons were intended to be used in attacks against Israeli troops operating along the Yellow Line, as well as against Israeli civilians.
Military officials said the operation was designed to eliminate what they described as an immediate security threat and to prevent Hamas from expanding its military capabilities.
Following the strikes, the Israeli military reported that secondary explosions were observed at several of the targeted locations, which it said indicated the presence of stored weapons and ammunition inside the facilities.
Israel Accuses Hamas of Violating Ceasefire
In its statement, Israel accused Hamas of continuing to violate the existing ceasefire agreement by rebuilding its military infrastructure.
According to the IDF and Shin Bet, Hamas has been making sustained efforts to restore its operational capabilities, including weapons production and the reconstruction of underground facilities.
“The Hamas terrorist organization continues to systematically and flagrantly violate the ceasefire agreement while attempting to rebuild its military capabilities and terrorist infrastructure,” the joint statement said.
Hamas had not immediately issued a response to the Israeli claims at the time of publication.
Conflict Remains Highly Tense
The latest strikes come amid persistent tensions surrounding the fragile ceasefire in Gaza, with both sides accusing each other of violating agreed terms.
The conflict has continued to attract international attention, with governments and humanitarian organizations repeatedly calling for restraint and renewed diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation.
