The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) have agreed on a new arrangement that will allow candidates seeking admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions to verify their West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) O’Level results once, instead of paying for repeated verification.
The two examination bodies disclosed this in a joint press statement on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, explaining that the new arrangement is designed to simplify the admission process, reduce costs and ease the burden on candidates.
Under the new system, candidates whose admissions are regulated and coordinated by JAMB are required to verify their WAEC results once through the JAMB-provided Verification Service.
