November 25, 2025 – Kwara, Nigeria
Terror struck Isapa community in the Ekiti Local Government Area (LGA) of Kwara State on Monday evening as gunmen invaded the town, abducting a pregnant woman, two nursing mothers, and 10 children. The attack also left an elderly woman injured by a stray bullet, sending shockwaves across the community.
Community in Panic as Armed Men Invade
Eyewitnesses reported that the assailants, numbering between 20 to 30 heavily armed bandits, stormed Isapa around 6 p.m. on November 24, 2025. The attackers moved through the town accompanied by a herd of cattle while opening fire sporadically, leaving residents in terror.
A local community leader confirmed that 11 individuals were kidnapped, including seven members of the same family. The abducted victims have been identified as: Talatu Kabiru, Magaji, Kande, Hadiza, Mariam, Saima, Habibat (housewife), Fatima Yusufu (housewife), Sarah Sunday (pregnant woman), Lami Fidelis (nursing mother), and Haja Na Allah.
Gunmen Leave Trail of Destruction
Residents described chaotic scenes as the gunmen moved through different parts of the community, shooting indiscriminately. Multiple bullet holes were found in walls and doors, and spent AK-47 cartridges littered the streets following the attackers’ escape.
“The gunmen came suddenly and started shooting. Everyone ran for cover,” a resident said. “We are still in shock and praying for the safe return of our loved ones.”
Echo of Previous Terror in Nearby Communities
This latest abduction mirrors recent attacks in neighbouring Eruku town, also in Ekiti LGA, where terrorists stormed a branch of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), killing three worshippers and abducting several others, including the pastor. According to sources, the gunmen opened fire during a church meeting, causing panic and scattering worshippers before abducting victims at gunpoint.
Eyewitnesses according to Sahara reporters recalled, “Three people were killed instantly, and others were taken into the bush. The attackers escaped through paths connecting Eruku to surrounding communities, leaving residents terrified.”
Authorities Urged to Act
The recurring terror attacks in Isapa, Eruku, and nearby towns have heightened fears among residents and local leaders. Community members are calling for urgent intervention from security agencies to rescue the abducted victims and curb the growing wave of violence.
Experts warn that the frequency and boldness of such attacks highlight gaps in local security infrastructure, emphasizing the need for increased patrols, community vigilance, and strategic deployment of law enforcement personnel in high-risk areas.
Residents continue to live in fear, with the memory of the Eruku church attack still fresh, while families of the kidnapped in Isapa anxiously await news of their loved ones’ release.
